First Major PGA Tour Golf tournament almost near. PGA Tour live streaming rights given to ESPN+ as per the report.
Already in December there were reports that the Tour would fulfill a new television rights contract. If the agreement is successful, CBS and NBC have the right to broadcast PGA tour shows on network television. A parallel contract with Golf Channel to continue on-air tours that do not appear on the network is also ongoing.
However, live streaming rights still exist in the air. NBC Sports has streaming rights at the moment and is said to bid for a new deal. Another favorite to win new rights is Discovery TV, which paid $ 2 billion in 2018 for exclusive rights to the Digital Digital PGA Tour outside the United States.
In the end, however, the tour opted for ESPN +, which had won streaming rights on the day of the PGA championship, which began at Harding Park in May this year, according to an AP report.
In all, the Tour’s revenue from TV rights will increase from $400 million to $700 million per year, not including the new streaming deal with ESPN+.
